Women have been fighting for their right to be free and equal human beings in the American society ever since we can remember, starting with the Woman’s Suffrage Movement in 1848. When the movement finally ended and was ruled a success, the women of America could finally say that they were “born free and equal in dignity.” I truly believe that with this freedom includes the right to the freedom of their own bodies, and the freedom to access the Planned Parenthood (and other related business) services, without question. In the recent few years, many republicans have been in a full steam attempt to ban the funding of all Planned Parenthood clinics and facilities. The people leading the charge believe that the $530 million annual dollars is too much Many people are very against the idea of abortion, no matter what the case. Although I can not fully support the abortion of a child, there are circumstances that abortion can be absolutely necessary, and a woman should not be shamed or punished for that. It is completely situational, but it should be the mother’s choice, without the excess pressure. Abortion is one of the biggest arguments for the defunding of the clinic, even though Planned Parenthood’s abortion services only take up 3% of their total work. That means that the rest of the percentage goes to things like pregnancy prevention, breast exams, and STD tests. The clinic has ed nearly five million women (and men) with their services, and prevented about 579,000 unintentional pregnancies every single year. To me, the benefit most definitely outweighs the cost. Those are millions of lives saved, and millions of people that I’m sure are ful everyday that they had the affordable and easy access to such beneficial services. Although Planned Parenthood is one of the main debates at stake here, it is not the only problem. There are other less public clinics that are at stake here as well, and women in general are too afraid to use them
