The purpose of this article is to examine the hypothesis that maternal beliefs like self-efficacy and perceived control influences the relation between the child-family traits like child’s difficult temperament and mother’s education among others and the level of in-home learning activities in Head Start. This essay summarizes the article by analyzing the research model, measures and the results of the research. Summary of the Role of Maternal Beliefs in Predicting Home Learning Activities in Head Start Families The research model used was the conceptual model but it does not show total support of the purpose of the research. This is because maternal education and family stress were not found to relate directly to home learning though family stress affected home learning only indirectly through parental self-efficacy . From the analysis of data that the author presents, there is no evidence that ethnicity moderated the relationship among the participants in the conceptual model.
