Manifest destiny, a term originated in 1845 first used by John L. O’Sullivan, was used to define the United States destiny on stretching their country from coast to coast. Manifest destiny led the United States people to be closed minded and one way about what they wanted for their country, and they wanted every piece of land from east to west coast, Mexico, and even Cuba. With manifest destiny deeply imprinted into their brains they would have no regards towards others that lived on their soil. For that reason the Anglo Saxons had no regard for the Native Americans and forced them out of their home which was done in the process we know as the “trail of tears”. In the trail of tears the Cherokee people were forced to give up their land in the Sitting Bulls first battle was at the age of 14 and after a couple he was widely known for his bravery and experience, and he earned himself leadership in the Lakota tribe. In the summer of 1876 the United States army was led by Colonel George Armstrong Custer and the Seventh Cavalry to invade the Native Americans land and so breaking their treaty causing the Battle of Little Bighorn also known as Custer’s Last George Custer after witnessing some Indians a few miles away he believes they will go warn their tribes and so he commands his group of men to attack immediately not realizing he was outnumbered. While attacking from the South, Sitting Bull and the tribes attacked back with about 3,000 men that came together who would not give up their land and go to reservations. Custer’s 120 men were defeated in less than two hours of battle. Major Reno was attacking through the East and realized Custer and the Seventh Cavalry were quickly defeated so Reno’s squad fought for about ten minutes and decided to pause his men before they would get trapped by the outnumbered Sioux . They quickly turned around and escaped along the river. When the battle was over the Indians stripped the soldier’s bodies and mutilated them, believing that in doing so the soul of a mutilated body would be forced to walk the Earth for all eternity and could not ascend to heaven. The U.S nation angry over the death of a civil war hero demand vengeance. The United States then forced the Native Americans a new reservation boundary and they removed the Black hills which then allowed anyone to go visit. Within a year after the Little Bighorn battle the Sioux tribe was defeated and broken up and was also their last stand as well as
