INTRODUCTION Communication plays a very vital role in our day to day life and is the basis of a successful relation which can be either personal or professional. Communication can be broadly classified into two type verbal and non-verbal communication. Verbal communication involves words, spoken written or signed whereas non-verbal communication includes tone and pitch, facial expressions, gestures seen through body language (kinesics) and proxemics (which is the physical distance between the people who are communicating). Body language comes under non-verbal commination. It s in communicating attitude and feeling through conscious and unconscious movements and postures. Examples of body language would be nail biting, crossing arms over the chest touching nose, placing hands on the cheek etc. Body language is very important as it s not only in communicating with others but also in understanding and reading they better. The humankind while communicating spends 20% in verbal and 80 Actions speak louder than words and the body language s in conveying meanings that even words fail to do at times. Paying attention to someone’s body language can speak volumes about that person. For e.g. it can tell us whether they are speaking nothing but the truth. A person who is lying will not make eye contact as it is believed eyes are the window to the lying soul. They may clear their throat, change the pitch, stammer, change the topic or try to take away your attention from the lie etc. Blushing, bouncing or foot tapping, placing their heads on their hands, looking away are all indicators that show they are uncomfortable because they aren’t speaking the truth. It’s important to know this epically since we communicate in our day to day
