For so long I read college was only meant for those who could afford it. In my community college is a rare golden opportunity to make it out of the oppressive and toxic environments we face daily while also making it in a world where jobs aren’t plentiful if you don’t pursue higher education. I always wondered why many of us were so scared if this was a resource any and every one could achieve when the effort is put in. I never realized many of the people in my community couldn’t afford it even if they tried. If America was built off of equal opportunities how come college isn’t something accessible for everyone? Now in my final two years high school I get it now. I often wonder how I’m going to make it out the same in environment and receive higher education . Hearing people like Bernie Sanders fighting for tuition free higher education has gave me hope though to In some communities going to college is such a rare and unheard of opportunity to make it out of an oppressive environment to be something so much more and to do something further in their lives that they feel passionate about. If America’s tuitions begin to increase what will happen to the system of higher education? Tuition hikes not only will hurt the people attending college, but it sends students into even more debt while also deterring those who are marginalized from not having access to a resource that is supposed to be for everyone who wants it. People seem to be highly opposed to the idea of a tuition free higher education because they believe America would lose out on the money it makes from. People stubbornness and unwillingness to find a way around that is putting the system of higher education at risk. College in America should be free because America’s counter parts have made college free, it would people become equip people to join the work force, and it would allow communities to thrives and give equal
