The basic of structural functionalism is a theory that supports society as an intricate system that works as a whole to promotes a stabile society. The term race refers to groups of people who have differences and similarities based off of biological traits considered by society to be socially significant. The concept of race create stability and harmony because society demands group alignment, they are inherently ethnocentric. I do not believe that structural functionalism is the proper way to view race in the United Sates but I do know it is being done. I personally believe that using structural functionalism is a dysfunction because in today’s society others are judgmental when it comes to people Mores are often backed up by law while a folkway is backed by people reactions. Mores are simply the strong reinforced norms. Norms are the specific cultural expectations for how to behave in a well view society. Norms do change from culture to culture. Folkways are norms without any moral underpinning and are the weakest and most loose norms around. Some examples are proper attire, saying and you and opening doors for others. Mores are stronger than folkways. Norms that embody the moral views and principles of a group carries great moral significance. Basically mores are stick norms that control moral and ethical behavior. Mores are norms based on definition of right and wrong. Unlike folkways mores and morally significant, People usually feel strongly about them so violating them would result in disapproval. Some example are Incest ,theft and cannibalism in German. Laws are formally defined and enforced by the government, should be considered the strongest. Provides an explicit statement of what is allowable and what is not. Examples of Law would be theft, murder, and speeding. If violated the person violating the law if caught can and will get cited, owe a fine or even jail time. Anomie referred to a situation that’s cultural norms break down because of rapid change. An example is anomic suicide it can occur during a major economic depression, when people are not able to achieve the goals that they have learned to Indeed both “conformity” and “deviance” seem to have negative connotations in our society. Groups, as we have seen constantly try to enforce conformity on their members through the use of sanctions. Positive deviance is the over conformity that is positively evaluated. People who selflessly people with no thought to won safety or gain. Thinking of an example of positive Deviance get kind of hard because now a day society usually only do go things for the selfish reasons, I would assume an example of positive would be volunteers. The concept of rate busting is over conformity that is negatively evaluated. It is people that push the code of conduct beyond their limits. An example of both busting would be similar to a scene quite familiar, featuring labor themes a young ager worker comes to the factory for the first time, determined to be a productive worker and in his enthusiasm, he happily produces more than the other workers who have been at the factory many years, and who are tired, stooped, and arthritic. He is what we describe a “rate buster.” Positive deviance is marginalized in deviance literature by the focus on negative deviance and the absence of comprehensive conceptions of deviance. It will probably always be view as a negative
