Fahrenheit 451 is a novel written by Ray Bradbury. In this novel Ray Bradbury predicted how he thought society would be in the future and the society he predicted is the same way as our society in the following ways: they depend on technology just as we do today, in their society people are always wanting to live to fast like our society does today, they do not value life much like many people in our society today. In Fahrenheit 451 people depend too much on technology like we do today. In this book people do not sit down and have meals as families or interact with each other as family members because they are too busy watching T.V or on some kind of electronic device. People in todays society are the exact same way, Instead of talking to People in todays society do not want to waste any time they want things done and done as fast as possible. In Fahrenheit 451 they also have much larger speed limits so people can get where they are going faster. Clarisse and Montag make it obvious how fast pace their society is when they first meet and they talk about how fast the people drive. Clarrise on page (9) said “they do not know what grass is, or flowers because they never see them slowly”. Our speed limits are not as fast as theirs but it always seems like people in our society are always driving fast and rushing to get places much like the society in Bradbury’s Kids in this novel go bowling for humans in cars to kill them just for fun and no reason. Their society does not really care about the death of people they do not know because they have grown use to it because it is a part of their everyday life. People in our society today do not value your life like they should either because we have grown a custom to it because not one day goes by where we do not read about the death of a teenager or see on the news about a killing or someone dying in a car accident. Death has become an everyday thing in our society much like it has in Fahrenheit 451. Our society is much like the one in Ray Bradbury’s novel Fahrenheit 451 in the following ways: Both of our societies depend on technology and let technology rule our life, both of the societies have big governments that try to control the societies into what they want, and both of the societies do not value life because it is a part of everyday life.
